Wæm Ræw-lajĭ (/ræw/ /laʤ/ [discourse; rhetoric] [bathroom]) is a subtropical Town located in Xs-0xlěb Zone, Bw-186ynæd District, within the Federation of Alveria.

The name Wæm Ræw-lajĭ is derived from the Constructi language, as Wæm Ræw-lajĭ was founded by Ghrig Shêgèqth, who was culturaly Constructi.

Climate

Wæm Ræw-lajĭ has a yearly average temperature of 27°C (80°F), with its average temperature during the summer being a hot 31°C (87°F) and its average temperature during the winter being a pleasant 24°C (75°F). Wæm Ræw-lajĭ receives an average of 139 cm/y (54 in/y) of precipitation, most of which comes in the form of rain during the spring. Wæm Ræw-lajĭ covers an area of nearly 5 km2 (2 mi2), and an average elevation of 4860 m (15944 ft) above sea level.

Overview

Wæm Ræw-lajĭ was founded durring the early 17th century in late summer of the year 1637, by Ghrig Shêgèqth. The establishment of the new community went well, with no major obsticles durring construction.

Wæm Ræw-lajĭ was built using the conventions of Constructi durring the early 17th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Wæm Ræw-lajĭ is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature delicute timber framework hidden behind layer upon layer of finly ground plaster bleached to an almost glossy white sheen, with green clay tiled roofs and decorative brass-leafed trim. Even the smallest, poorest looking structures appear to be expencive thanks to the extreem elegence of the organic shapes and paterns going into their lofty, spire-y, vagly gothic designs. The more well off folks live in identicle homes, save for even shiner trim and a more whimsical appearance to their structures flowing forms.

Wæm Ræw-lajĭ is buildings are arranged within a network of broad cobblestone streets which form a rectangular grid, where each block verries in size given the proximity of the paralell streets forming each section. The ocasional smaller block has been used to construct a park, plaza, and other communal structures. The town is protected by a renforced stone fence which sits atop earthwork defences, for some of the best inexpencive defences a town of Wæm Ræw-lajĭ's size could have. The well-designed, yet cheep has suffered a visible ammount of structural damage, leaving them effectivly useless. One can't help but wonder why the has not yet effected repairs.

Right off the bat Wæm Ræw-lajĭ hits you in the face with its success. Everyone, even the peasants, are dressed in well made clothing. Every tool and implement you can see is finely made, and people will boast to you as obvious strangers of the wonders which can be found in their markets. More interestingly is a total lack of beggars, and plenty of new buildings are going up even as you speak. Somehow this town has come into quite a lot of wealth, and recently from the looks of things. This wealth has brought the town nothing but neurosis, if you can believe your eyes. Everyone acts as if you’re out to take a piece of them. Every door is locked and every window barred. Efforts are made to make you feel welcome, but only in the public areas of the town, particularly the market.

Wæm Ræw-lajĭ has a Highwayman's Guild, which is tasked with maintaining the roads and highways leading into town as well as keeping them safe for travelers.

Wæm Ræw-lajĭ has a monistary of an order of Civil Monks, who provide divine-related services to the general public and maintain Wæm Ræw-lajĭ's public wards, blessings, and other arcane systems.

Cultural Notes

Wæm Ræw-lajĭ's bank was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used makes use of a large oblong hall or building with double colonnades and a semicircular apse and symmetrical central-plan, resulting in buildings with a square central mass and four arms of equal length. Decorative features included domed rooves, arches, soaring spaces, and sumptuous decoration: marble columns and inlay, mosaics on the vaults, inlaid-stone pavements, and sometimes gold coffered ceilings.

In Wæm Ræw-lajĭ during thunderstorms, with each flash of lightning, everyone sees different monsters from the corner of their eyes.

The Stegocentipede near Wæm Ræw-lajĭ are known to be more aggressive than normal.

Wæm Ræw-lajĭ's citizens partake in a curious ritual relating to their local kami. It takes place in summer and involves drinking to channel Chronomancy energies of tier 1 via chanting.

Everyone around them is fighting for the chance to exploit this clever new plan.

In time immemorial, reportedly some time during the early 2nd century heavy spring rains following an uncharacteristically dry year and a minor earthquake resulted in the collapse of the south east side of Hate Valley. the landslide struck Wæm Ræw-lajĭ, and devastated the community. 226 people, 208 livestock, and 43 buildings were lost to the calamity. The disaster is recorded in history as Hate's Fall.
